Mr Francis Greene celebrating his 100th! Birthday

National Federation of Fishmongers Past President and valued member Mr Francis Green of Coakley Green in Swansea is Celebrating his 100th Birthday, today, February 24th.

Francis began his working career in Walthamstow London, working his way up through the ranks at Littlewoods, becoming store manager, then area manager, with a very successful role

In the 1960’s, after much deliberation, Francis took over the family business, as his parents we due to retire. Hugely enjoying the fish trade, he became well respected throughout the industry, becoming president of the National Federation of Fishmongers and was interviewed by Richard Dimbleby during the Cod Wars between the UK and Iceland in the 1970’s, he is hugely proud to have been made a Freeman of the City of London, a great honour.

Even at a century, Francis remains an active member of the Federation, still drives, and his energy would put many of his younger counterparts to shame!

On behalf of everyone at the National Federation of Fishmongers I would like to wish him a very Happy Birthday!

Rex Goldsmith

President
